PROGRAM
Day 1: Cusco - Cachora - Chikiska
Pick up from
your hotel at 4h00 am. Then drive to Cachora. Cachora reaching
the town of a little time we have for our breakfast. Then we
started the walk reaching 2915 m Capuliyoc of a sight as
beautiful as the snow-capped peaks and Padrayoc, Wayna Cachora
and initial views on the Apurimac valley. Then descend toward
Coca camp where the climate becomes noticeably warmer and the
flora and fauna is changing. Finally we arrive at 1550 Chikiska
m.s.n.m. situated beyond the River Apurimac which we will set.
Overnight.
Day 2: Chikiska - Playa Rosalina -
Marampata
After an
early breakfast at a steep road, this day will be more tiring
and exhausting. Arriving in Santa Rosa which is just across the
river from where we Chunchullumayo lunch. Along the walk we will
observe many orchids and wild flowers and many birds. Continuing
our walk we arrive at our second camp. Overnight.
Day 3: Marampata - Choquequirao - Rio
Blanco
This third
day will be our visit to the complex of Choquequirao, we
explored the ruins of Choquequirao. Our guide explained the
history and importance of the site as well as in different sites
that divides this important complex. After you have free time to
visit different areas on their own. In the afternoon we will
continue our route to Salkantay. Overnight in Rio Blanco.
Day 4: Rio Blanco - Mina Victoria
After our
breakfast, we continued our journey arriving at White River
Canyon, after a short rest continue to get a slight rise to Mina
and spend the night Victoria. Overnight.
Day 5: Mina Victoria - Yanama
Beginning the
morning after our breakfast we will have a climb through the
semi-jungle, a tropical varied climate. On the way visit some
Inca ruins until the Victoria Open Pass where we will see the
town of that name. The newly discovered Coryhuayrachina is in
this route. Yanama descend to the village where we spend the
night.
Day 6: Yanama - Colcapampa
This day we
have to walk through the Andes mountains of Cusco. During the
course of this day we see the chain of mountains and the snowy
peaks. This day we cross the highest point of the trek thus
arriving at our camp Colcapampa. Passing through the villages of
Totora, overnight.
Day 7: Colcapampa - Salkantay Pampa
A
particularly full day of snow covered mountains as well as the
tropical climate, we can appreciate the Andean animals that live
in these parts, unique to live at high temperatures and high,
animals like the chinchilla, vizcachas (rabbits heights). This
day will appreciate the snow or Apu (God) Salkantay, divinity or
deity for the Incas. Then we take a short descent to reach Pampa
Salkantay where we spend the night.
Day 8:
Salkantaypampa - Canal Inca
After a night
near the Nevado de Salkantay, we continue towards Inca Chiriasca,
reach to take breathtaking views of Mount Salkantay (you can see
condors in this area.) After our lunch we continued towards the
community where there is a channel Pampacahuana Inca, in this
place we will spend the night.
Day 9:
Canal Inca - Inca Rakay - Huayllabamba
We wake up about 7:00 am., After enjoying breakfast we start our
hike the hardest of the day, the walk is a precipitous rise and
narrow (9 km). Along this climb, the landscape changes from
sierra to puna (a dry and high area with little vegetation).
Following to the community of Huayllabamba (3000 m) in the
bottom portion will visit the archaeological complex of Inca
Rakay (Paucar court) that is composed of various buildings such
as plazas, walls, terraces rectangular. After about four hours
of walking Wayllabamba reach, where we stopped for our lunch.
This is the point at which we begin our Classic Inca Trail to
Machu Picchu. As pack animals are not allowed on the Inca Trail,
so we bid farewell to our horsemen and horses and in their place
we were introduced to the porters who will take care of loading
the camping equipment and food to the end. Our third night.
Day 10: Wayllabamba - Warmiwañusca -
Pacaymayo
After our
breakfast, we start our second day's walk, through Tres Piedras,
Llulluchapampa and reaching the peak of the Inca Trail
Warmiwañusca (dead woman) to 4200 m Stop for lunch at
appropriate time. Continuing the path descend to our camp
Pacaymayo (3500 m), Camp, dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Pacaymayu - Runkurakay -
Sayacmarca - Wiñayhuayna
After our breakfast, the third day of trekking tours to the
ruins of Runkurakay and Sayacmarca at lunch. Then we walk the
road to get Puyupatamarca (cloud city) another important
archaeological site. Following a short walk leads to our last
camp Wiñayhuayna (forever young). Visit the resort. Camp, dinner
and overnight.
Before sunrise, about 4:30 am. After our breakfast, we begin a
short hike up to Inti Punku (Puerta del Sol), which has a
fantastic view of Machu Picchu. Guided tour of close to two
hours for the main temples of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu,
then have free time to climb Huayna Picchu. In the afternoon we
went to the town of Aguas Calientes to catch our train back to
Ollantaytambo and then bus to Cusco.
# Day 6: The National Institute of Culture is to establish that
some groups stay overnight in Wiñayhuayna. Usually the groups
that get to stay overnight in Wiñayhuayna are those who made
their advance registration by that date. As spaces are ending
the INC determines that other groups should Puyupatamarca left
overnight in a few hours before Wiñayhuayna. There is no way to
choose this. We advise to book more in advance.
# 7 th day: Huayna Picchu is located behind the mountain where
Machu Picchu in order to take up aerial view of the Inca
citadel. There is a checkpoint at Machu Picchu to climb Huayna
Picchu. You must enter your name and receive a ticket to climb
Huayna Picchu. The guide provides information how to get the
ticket, but need not pay anything else. Only 400 people can
visit a day divided into two shifts. Machu Picchu receives over
1000 visitors a day and generally lacking quotas to climb Huayna
Picchu. No reservation is possible. Generally, travelers
arriving by other paths get quotas because they reach more

# The support team plays hard work so that everything goes well
during the walk. Mainly carriers who do the work heavier. The
willingness to tip each the last day of the walk. Generally,
each traveler offers 10 to 15 soles each carrier, the Peruvian
currency. It is not mandatory but it is good reward for their
work.

# Aguas Calientes is a small town with restaurants and hotels is
at the bottom gives the mountain of Machu Picchu, it is normal
that a traveler wishes to stay overnight in Aguas Calientes.
Generally this option can take when they wish to visit Machu
Picchu for the second time. If the travelers want to visit again

Important
- The Salkantay & Inca Trail is not a simple walk, is an
adventure for over 4100 meters. The first day can be stressful
for some people. Before this can have problems with altitude,
must be prepared for eventualities how are you, headaches, heart
palpitations, shortness of breath even vomiting.
- If you have any health problem that depends on some special
attention, we recommend that you do not walk the Inca Trail
because at least two days we will be outside of any care you may
want.
- After marking their participation for the Inca Trail, also can
not be changed. The value for the registration fee can not be
returned, as this insurance prior to registration.
- You must be in Cusco at least 2 days before departure date to
the Inca Trail. This just to confirm their presence and also to
make a basic acclimatization before starting the walk.
- During the trip the program may be modified if natural events,
technical or political way forced, but always follow the idea
proposed program.
- Everything that you do not take the Inca Trail can be left at
our office in Cusco or the Hotel. Since our office has a
warehouse.
- To travel to Peru is not necessary to travel with a passport,
but recommend that you carry.
- Hiring this program you claim to understand the risks involved
in travel to the Andean countries and assumes the risks of this
